DS Automobiles is working on a fully electric model called the DS 8. This vehicle will use Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform and will be produced at the Melfi factory in Italy starting in 2024. While the French car manufacturer has not shared many details about this project, recent spy photos have revealed some key information.
The new electric flagship DS 8 fastback from DS Automobiles hits the road
The DS 8, spotted while being tested on the roads of Southern Europe, has already caught attention. The new model features a fastback design reminiscent of the Peugeot 408, with design elements inspired by the DS Aero Sport Lounge concept and sleek front headlights.
The interior of the DS 8 is tech-forward, with large screens for both the instrument panel and the infotainment system. As DS Automobiles’ new electric flagship, this model will also feature high-quality upholstery and luxurious details.
Although exact specifications are not yet confirmed, the STLA Medium platform allows us to make some predictions. Considering the features offered in the new Peugeot e-3008, the DS 8 could come in single or dual electric motor versions, offering an all-wheel-drive option. With a battery capacity of up to 98 kWh, it is expected to provide a range of approximately 700 km according to the WLTP cycle. The dual motor version could deliver around 240 kW (326 HP).
The DS 8 is expected to be offered as an all-electric model. However, the platform also supports hybrid powertrains, so a hybrid version may be possible in the future.
